This invitational is a one of a kind, with awarding athletes with more than just the conventional medals. The theme of the Jekyll Island Invitational is geared toward honoring and rewarding gymnasts when they do an outstanding performance and recognizing their accomplishments. We offer the Historic Award!
Each score is recorded and tracked to see if there are any new records. Gymnasts come from all over to compete for the opportunity to break previous records and make history. The historical awards will be listed in the meet program and updated each year.
Athletes that beat, prior historic award winners receive a custom T-shirt to commemorate the achievement.
In past years the Historic award was limited to USAG athletes' levels 3 to 10 and Xcel athletes. Starting in 2025 we have opened up this record holding opportunity to AAU athletes as well.

Senior Recognition
Something unique about Jekyll Island is that they host an annual treasure hunt. It runs for 2 months January through February each year.
This two-month-long event invites families to explore the island while enjoying its natural beauty and various trails. Colorful plastic orbs are hidden across the island, waiting to be discovered. These orbs lead participants on an adventure through hiking paths, beach trails, and biking routes, offering a fun way to connect with nature and the community.
Participants who find an orb can exchange it at the Visitor’s Center for a unique reward: a handmade, glass-blown orb valued at $75. For lucky treasure hunters, this prize is entirely free.
The hunt is open to everyone and does not require an entry fee. However, visitors must pay an $10 toll per vehicle to access the island. The event runs from Jan. 1 through the end of February, providing ample time for families and friends to join the fun.
In addition to this fabulous competition, on the island like no other, take a break from your local weather and enjoy a treasure hunt on the beach in the middle of Georgia Winter!
